In my recent reading and study of Amos Chapter 5, this scene begins with lamentation and ends with the threat of deportation. How tragic it all is! When that happens people are hurt and wounded and damaged. When God speaks about seeking He does so because people have not been seeking! How does this apply to you? Take God’s word seriously and respond prophetically and positively.

Reading and studying the book of the prophet Amos has been so enlightening and reassuring in these current times. The Lord God Almighty is speaking. Amos reminds his listeners as to Who is really speaking and he is simply the message boy. The only one who can really help the nations is the one who was born in an outhouse in Bethlehem of Judea, and who became a carpenter’s apprentice in the Highlands of Galilee – in Nazareth – Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Saviour and Lord and Rescuer. This message is a message which needs to be proclaimed to the people in these present days.

A man could never be taken to court as a result of his thoughts, but when it moves into words, deeds and action, the situation changes. Do you ever feel there is a shadow which comes now and again and seems to cross your path and darken your future hopes and dreams? Might appear only now and again, or might it raise its foreboding presence all too frequently? Does it have that tendency to prevent your life from being fruitful and prosperous and successful? What is the purpose of fruit and success and prosperity? God would have us be fruitful and produce seed which in turn might produce more fruit. It does not always happen that way but that does not cause us to shy away from the possibilities.

Do you know that God has called you to be different? You are to be different from the world and from those who claim to be Christians but live in the flesh. God is coming for a spotless church and He loves you to be there. This article emphasizes God’s demand on you to be different for Jesus.

When you Google “spirituality” you find a multitude of definitions and references, and like religion, spirituality is defined by your own personal perceptions. Humans love labels, so when we step away from organized religion, defining ourselves as spiritual gives us another identifying quality. As Christianity defines sin as a failure of the human experience, some spiritual beliefs offer the same pitfalls.

Man is essentially a living organism. He is surrounded by many more organisms as well; he is primarily concerned with his interaction with these living organisms. Besides these organisms there is a realm where man connects with himself only; the Spiritual realm. The presence of this realm is not from Day 1 when Man steps into this planet or when he breathes his last. This realm is omnipresent. It is Man who has to connect with it.

Is the excitement of serving God a whole lot of Hoopla – unnecessary excitement and fuss? These games using Hula Hoops are sure to create excitement but can also be used to create discussion on living as a Christian youth within God’s boundaries.

Everything matters in life when we care, but there comes a point where that sort of modus operandi no longer works. It involves too many risks, it takes too much energy, and burns too many bridges. And, like with busyness, caring too much about too many things runs us ragged, not just spiritually, but behaviourally, and in our compassion fatigue, we find ourselves on a slippery slope to emotional despair. The encouragement in this is the opposite is also true.

The truth about meditation is quite different from what the average, inexperienced person thinks of it. Public opinion is shaped by a lifetime of societal influence, such as through Hollywood comedies, written by people who know little about meditation, that lampoon meditation and other “kooky” spiritual practices.
