Yes, it is a big important decision on Thursday, but not as big, nor as important, as this one. We have freedom to choose, but we do not have the freedom to choose the consequences of our choices. The choices we make are far more important than we think at the time when we make these choices. How many have made bad choices when it came to marriage? Some have discovered that they are in a job they just cannot bear. That must be a horrendous predicament in which to find oneself. Make sure you seek to make wise choices. Ask Almighty God for help and direction. Ask the risen and living Jesus to guide you and lead you. He will.

Such is the power of the gospel in the dross of life that even in loss there is victory, where we live as if, in that defeat, it was victory. For only in defeat, when things are not going according to plan, do we get the compelling opportunity to show how different our lives are, living joyously for hope in spite of loss, for the sake of Christ!

It is obvious, from daily observations and experiences, that there are numerous people who are living in abject poverty, despite being very committed, dedicated, pious and righteous children of God. The question that should be asked is this, “If God is the source of all blessings, why should he starve the people who are called by His name of the blessing of prosperity, which is within his power?” Indeed, many Christians are unable to understand why most children of God are unable to achieve the success they desire in their finances year after year.

In any court of law, there have to be at least two witnesses to validate what the person on trial is saying is true. Even in the Bible, the requirement of two or more witnesses is necessary to prove a case. Jesus completely fails this two witness’s requirement to prove that he even existed, and if so, that he is what he claims himself to be.

Our search for freedom is encircled by the concepts of having more, doing more and becoming more. It is this interpretation of the world as we know it that keeps us in the mode of striving.

Amos is a most amazingly bold and courageous prophet. Most prophets are bold and courageous. They have to be. Think of men like Paul and Peter who served Jesus Christ so loyally and so faithfully. Our God will deal with all this. Many people today do not believe that God will deal with sin and sins, but there is forgiveness and mercy offered through Jesus Christ, when we repent and confess and come to Him. His prophetic interventions are seen to deal with real and factual situations, and particular places, and specific times. Reading Amos helps us to see our own situation, and our present setting, as God sees it. God spells it out through Amos, “This is what the Lord says”.

“If ever a perfectly good man appeared on earth he would be murdered.” So said Socrates! Why did this happen to Jesus Christ? Who was behind it? Within three years of Jesus Christ appearing, preaching, teaching, healing and training disciples, He was nailed to a cross. Mark in his Gospel helps us understand why the opposition arose so fast. Jesus always deals with what is at the heart and core of a problem. At times, He wants to take us further than we may want to go. Sin has many and various ugly heads and only Jesus Christ can deal with sin thoroughly and totally. That is why I point you to Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

You hurt someone and then you feel bad. But what if is its too late to apologize? No, its never too late to confess and say sorry for all the guilt and sins that you committed unknowingly or with illicit intentions. Just brave yourself up and wash away all the grim and badness from your heart and soul.

The place, importance, purpose, and potential of the New Testament will take on an even greater role and significance over these next weeks and months, as society and communities across Europe, and the Church of Jesus Christ, are confronted by Islam, to a dangerous degree. No other set of documents can compare with the New Testament. None has come near. Every area of life has been affected by the revelation and teaching of the New Testament, or its being overlooked, ignored, compromised, or rejected. Our culture could stand, improve, or fall, according to how the authority and authenticity of the New Testament is regarded. The only solution to sin, and sins horrendous consequences, is to be found in these unique texts, as is the only road to, and for, salvation.
