“I just cannot seem to get everything done. I need more time.” How many have voiced these thoughts? There is one person who managed to finish and complete all He wanted to do and that was Jesus Christ. From His earliest days Jesus said that He must finish the work which God gave Him to do, and Jesus accomplished that. When being crucified, Jesus uttered a significant word; Tetelestai. It was completely complete. When sin is dealt with through the blood Jesus Christ shed on Calvary’s Cross, and when we have that peace which flows from forgiveness, then God is able to touch so many other areas of our complex and complicated lives.

SABBATH involves the practice of shalom; that distinguished peace that pervades our being. My best Sabbath is practiced at the beach, alone, with a refreshment and a book with blank pages and a pen. Just as close is a being still in lush vegetation, especially where there’s a view, for where there’s a view there’s perspective.

The ones who go through life never questioning what they do or think are not spiritually linked to the Divine. Only the spiritual have an awareness that what they do in life matters and they take care to preserve creation and the voice within that leads and guides them.

Of all the days of Christmas it’s appropriate to finish on it’s the twelfth day where the number twelve depicts not only Israel who struggled with God, but it depicts just as much the meaning of perfection and completion (as does the number seven). This means that, like Israel, we’re bound to struggle with God, and we’re bound to do so in the totality of our lives. Not only that, but God will prevail, not only over us, but for us, in the totality of our lives.

The time you give to God, your maker, determines what happens to the rest of the day. One reason why God made man was for fellowship and whoever satisfies this will be satisfied by Him.
