We often strive for “blessings” that can be seen with the physical eye. The comforts of life are often perceived as ‘favor’. We look at those who have plenty and feel they are blessed beyond measure. My question is, with your eye’s closed: What does being blessed really look like?

SPIRITUAL warfare is a covert operation that sets itself in the battle of the everyday, and it comes dressed in myriad form of camouflage. It comes disguised as a challenge, in the banal, as something seen as sinister, and even sometimes as criticism from unsuspecting persons. Whenever we are tempted to give up we should ask ourselves the cursory question, “Could this be an attack?” If we answer that question as a possibility for the affirmative, we should be prepared to invest some time going deeper into the whys and wherefores before we entertain quitting.

“If you have never had any distractions you don’t know how to pray. For the secret of prayer is a hunger for God and for the vision of God, a hunger that lies far deeper than the level of language or affection. And a man whose memory and imagination are persecuting him with a crowd of useless or even evil thoughts and images may sometimes be forced to pray far better, in the depths of his murdered heart, than one whose mind is swimming with clear concepts and brilliant purposes and easy acts of love.

We must believe in Allah with His whole attributes. He exists. His existence is absolute. His existence never changes. He is the one. He has no partners in His existence, attributes and performances. His existence is forever and eternal. He is the real owner of everything. He needs nothing! But everything is in need of His favors. He has the power over everything. He sees, hears and speaks. He creates, organizes and manages everything as He wishes. He has infinite knowledge. Trillions of events that took place in the visible and invisible realms always takes place under His information.

WHEN I was an unashamed sinner I had no idea of the life I was missing out on. Then I found this life in the Lord, yet I didn’t really find it, for I was freed for just another form of death: legalism. Legalism, for me, was to say, “Do ‘this’ and you’ve obeyed God; do ‘that’ and you’ve done all you need to do.” ‘This’ usually meant read my Bible. That usually meant pray. I was so far wrong.

To live bold is to live free. To live free is to live devoted to the LORD, as Daniel verily was. Daniel’s life should not so much impress us as it should be the example for our own.
