There is a reason, purpose and wisdom for the creation of everything in the divine system. Every factor, phenomenon and process was arranged to complement each other. As everything in this system was created for a reason, every factor in the system is equipped with the qualities and skills to realize these purposes. We have this treasure! What is real faith in Jesus faith in Christ? What is it? It comes to someone who may be a total nobody, and it may come to someone who is struggling with life. It may also come to someone who feels so insignificant and worthless, and Jesus Christ calls and says, “I want you!” Faith can come to someone who is weary and frustrated and tense and afraid and shy and sinful and aware of it, and that is the very moment and time when the risen and living Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, offers treasure and riches and forgiveness and peace and blessing, with and courage and power, and so much more. Paul writes about the “unsearchable riches” we have in Christ Jesus and “unspeakable gifts” which are available to all who are open to receive the blessings of Almighty God.

This is no valley of dry bones. In one sense it is the very opposite and will enrich and encourage and bless the lives of all who grasp these moral and ethical and spiritual truths. It is not fitting that a man should put a beautiful photograph or painting in some tawdry frame, or a priceless jewel in a cardboard box. That would not be appropriate, or would it? Yet, Paul sees that this is precisely what Almighty God has done in Jesus Christ. The only valid explanation is that it is God at work. Paul is writing here to show that what lies behind all this work and ministry and service, which can be demanding and costly, is Almighty God. I have found that so comforting over these weeks and months. We have this treasure and that is Paul’s evaluation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Is it ours?
