There are issues of hurt that strike us all; whether it is people’s intention to hurt us or not; whether our expectations, alone, are to blame or not. Often it is a blend of the two. It doesn’t really matter what has caused our bitterness, apart from acknowledging the fact that bitterness – whatever the cause, and whether we are vindicated or not – has seen us turn from God. Bitterness has seen us turn from God.

Meditation when done correctly can help anybody achieve inner peace. People who meditate the right way, find it easier to relax, and are able to open their minds to attract the success they are striving for, and which meditation will help them to achieve in abundance.

We are helped in the living of our lives by discerning the above truth and acting on it, separating out what we, alone, can do from what God, alone, can do; knowing as we might the things that God cannot do, because he will not do them for us. But what God will do for us is show us the way, and in such a way we will be shown how to enact his will in achievable ways. God is no hard taskmaster like those we are used to here on planet Earth. If anything God makes things simpler for us than we feel comfortable. We are the ones who complicate matters.

In a Gospel Hall setting as a child I remember a hymn with the line, “Blind unbelief is sure to err… “. The solution, bizarrely, seemed to be to adopt blind belief instead. The road to stagnation seems to be the one that fixes your belief for all time even in the face of evidence to the contrary.

The most powerful thing we can concentrate on is the good. It does not just seem that way, but, it is that way. Once we come down to causes, instead of trying to turn effects into actual causes, then the good can be concentrated on. Judging by the nature of how consciousness works with reality, our life depends on it.

Worship simply means giving honour or adoration to God. Worship in Biblical terms is attributed to bowing down in showing reverence to someone, but in this case God. It does not necessarily have to do with speaking or singing although that is important but rather your heart and corresponding action. God deserves your worship and expects it in His way and not your own way.

The poor in spirit are those who consciously depend on God, not on themselves; they have no ability in themselves to please God but depend on the finished work of Christ. They are those who have emptied themselves to be full. Our sufficiency is not in ourselves as the world promotes but rather in Christ.
