Religion is a terrible thing and it can wreak havoc on those who seek to follow Jesus Christ and who have been set free from religious chains and restrictive legalistic sinful shackles. These people were under intense persecution. To which people am I referring? They were the victim of almost every kind of assault, and questions might have crept into their hearts and minds. Where is the righteousness of a holy God? Does He not care about what the persecuted ones at the close of the first century? Why are we having to endure and experience all this suffering and pain which comes across our paths? How many people have been called to serve, and something happens, and they foolishly stop serving, and the life they had, and the potential they had, dries up and evaporates and congeals.

Prime Ministers and leaders need to remember this and be aware of this because we hear of appalling language used at times by those who ought to know far better. What kind of language do you use at work and at home? Do those around you appreciate the words which emerge from your lips? Men will curse God right to the very end. That is how some people will react to what is just and righteous and true. Men are unrepentant! Men are either cursing God, or praising and worshipping God, and you cannot have both emerging from the same mouth. God made a perfect work of salvation, and He will make a perfect work of judgment. Just as salvation was perfection in every detail, so will be judgment! The last and final word belongs to God.

God is not wind or air or fire or earth. God is a person- a real person. God is not a force or collective consciousness.

It is like a spiral staircase where you go round and round, but when we look we see that we have been ascending, or like a corkscrew boring down, and going deeper and deeper into fellowship with Almighty God. And yet when you can almost smell the judgments, there is this pause, and John participates in true worship. After 60 years of being with Jesus had John ever been at such an occasion as this? It is like Exodus Chapter 15, when the people worship having crossed the Red Sea. They are victorious and they have overcome, and we are given a picture of tranquility. John has this burden to share this message. Just as God is stronger than Pharaoh, God is stronger than the beast, and God judges in impeccable holiness and righteousness. Society does not just rebel today but scoffs and ridicules.

This word can be blessing and enriching some lives, and enraging and infuriating others. This vision is wonderful. When eternity falls upon men, and mankind in general, and Jesus Christ comes and the books are opened. People think everything is going to go on for ever, but it isn’t! It doesn’t! Try speaking to some people about the real Jesus and see how they react. Where you get a living church you get persecution. Unbelief and apostasy appear to be increasing. There have always been wicked churchmen, but today we have churchmen denying the basic fundamentals of the faith. This is why we are taken over by what we worship, because what we worship controls us.

Many times, we feel that we should be able to unlock any door in our lives because we hold the key. The problem is that you have to use the key, not just sit there and hold it. Are you ready to use your key? Sometimes that isn’t enough. Sometimes there are reasons why the door doesn’t unlock.

HUMILITY is a weapon. When you bow your knee to the King of Kings, peace takes over.
