Spirituality is not the same as religion. Spirituality teaches unconditional love. Many religious texts, especially the Bible and the Koran, have been edited by those seeking power and control over the masses. As a result, contradictions run rampant. The God of the Old Testament is depicted as a vengeful and jealous God who dictates “commandments” to those who worship him. Even the crucifixion story of Jesus is based on the death of a man who gives up his life so that humanity could be saved. But did he?

Christian theology insists that we do not need to search for God – God has already searched for us, in the person of Jesus Christ. All we need to do is accept that God has sought us in His Son and allow ourselves to be found by Him – and to say yes. And, the Bible tells us, those whom Christ has found, he will never let go. But what do we say then of people who turn to Christ, spend time with Him, and then fail to grow?

Today, if you ask the average person on the street what the divine means to them, the typical response would most likely begin with, “He is… ” In the Muslim and Judeo-Christian-based religions, this male pronoun is nearly always used to describe the gender of the divine. Because we are so accustomed to living in a patriarchal society, we assume that the divine, like every other person of authority in our life, must also be male.

Planet Earth and the human race that inhabits her is in dire need of balance. We are living in a time when we need to become conscious more than ever in our history. Evolution into the Next Human is no longer a luxury but a matter of sheer survival. As we approach the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012, we are finding our collective at a crossroads on its path to enlightenment.

Existence is full of energy, even overflowing with it in some instances, right? Well, this is an article about that fact and the fact that we can control that existence full of energy if we put our spirits and minds to it.

An estimated 70-80% of people today, whether churched or un-churched, report being “spiritual but not religious” and while those numbers are growing our churches are declining. Some of the “spiritual but not religious” choose to leave their church. Others remain members of their church so they can continue to be part of the church community. Whether we choose to leave our religion, or continue our membership, the transition from our life long religious beliefs to a “spiritual but not religious” understanding of who we are, can leave us feeling very cut-off and alone.

Each moment is a thought, and as thoughts moments pass very quickly into oblivion, forever. Our Mind keeps a reference snapshot of the moment’s fervor, tags it with emotion so it can bother us later. But truly, it’s gone forever. Our mind clusters these moments so we can perceive a full story, but this is Not the Truth of the moment. This is like the film that passes through the projector, each frame leading to another, giving us the illusion of motion and reality. It’s not real – it’s not Action or Life. It is not anything to do with You, although for a moment you are immersed in the illusion of living in the movie.

To say that the Big Bang indicates the advent of consciousness is false because the only thing that the Big Bang did was create the universe of form. And how do we as conscious beings create form? Well, as the Greek philosopher Plato concluded from his observation of the world, concepts cannot be derived from experience, but can only precede experience. In other words, mind comes before matter.

In the movie, The Matrix, As Morpheus conveyed to Neo “There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.” When you become One with your higher Self, you are no longer bound to suffering because you have reconnected your Soul with the collective of all Life.
