In order to understand whether business and spirituality mix we need to understand first what business and spirituality are. Obviously they are not simplistically what the terms business and spirituality mean in common parlance. Business is the operation of systems to make commerce possible.

One of the greatest difficulties in prayer is not knowing if you are praying in the will of God. This restricts the boldness to ask and the assurance of receiving. This doubt is the opposite of faith. This is the assumption that we cannot know the will of God, and therefore we cannot pray with certainty.

Jesus reveals what their new life is to be like when the Holy Spirit is given. The branches will be joined in life-union with the vine. They will bear fruit as His witnesses, to live and to suffer for Him, even as He had lived and suffered. But also the blessings, one above all, true unlimited promises of power in prayer. He prays for them, that they may have the joy of knowing what His intercession as their High Priest will be like.

First as a child to the Father. How much more than an earthly father, He rewards the trustful child. Then a transition stage of testing and conflict, then conquest. Third, the final stage, they have grown up into the Lord’s friends, whom He shares His secrets with. All things from the Father shared, and the promise of whatsoever you will to be answered.

Our relationship to God, as a child to a father, must be one of subjection, surrender to His authority, His will. This was the whole activity of Jesus on earth. This also brings the promise and gift of the Holy Spirit. We show our love for our Savior by keeping His words, and then the Father and the Savior will come and take up their abode in Him. To trust and obey is the only way to surrender to God and His will. Then God will be to them all He has promised to be.

If one experiences continual prayer, with no answers, then the fault is with us or with God. We put in the condition “if it be Thy will.” Thus explaining the lack of answer as being that we don’t know God’s will.
