Today if I want to see my family I turn on my computer and call them, and in an instant I can speak with any of them and see them. In fact video conversation has become the thing of the day, and many communication companies are already offering the services which allow you to talk to anyone in the other side of the globe through your television set as if you both were sitting in the same room.

The word “love” alone has no power at all to bring love, give love, and help us feel love does it? Does it help in a church to hear a sermon on love when the members of the church are at odds with each other, or visitors feel unwelcome for any reason? Does it help to hear the words, “I love you” if there is no evidence of love?

Exercise in all things increases strength. So also in prayer we exercise our faith: in fellowship with the Father we receive strength. Our faith has its life in God Himself. We must be thankful and worship Him for His love and mercy toward us, and listen in quiet yielding to His Spirit that He may speak to us. This increases our trust and knowledge of Him.

To appeal to the friendship of God, we must prove to be friends of the needy. As such, we can be bold in claiming the right to a positive outcome. We see this portrayed in the Old Testament with the holy men of old: Abraham, Moses, Samuel, Elijah. If an evil man wishes to help his friend, how much more are you able and willing to help him? This places us on a more equal status with God than just being His children. If we are living as His friends by following the commands of Christ, we will be called His friends, even as Abraham was.

The most important guide is the Holy Spirit, to be acknowledged and listened to, both in living and in praying. The goal is to let our light shine before others, that they may glorify our Father in Heaven. Nothing should be done in public to receive praise of men, but in secret, that only God sees. To forgive even as God forgives us. To trust God for all physical needs. To seek first the rulership of God and His righteousness, to do His will. All exemplify the life of the loving child, serving the Father’s will, grateful and desiring to please the Father by bearing the good fruit of faith through Jesus. Such a child the Father will certainly bless, and abundantly.

It works both ways of course. Since God is Omnipresence – or everywhere – then the good news is that there is nowhere that Love is not. It’s easy to forget this Truth, as we appear to live our lives as individual personalities separate from Infinite Love.

God-focused prayer is prayer that has God as its focus. Its prayer that seeks to know and experience God’s presence. It is prayer that turns away from the problem at hand, and turns to God for God and God alone. Because the prayer is not focused on a problem, it seems to be impractical, but read further and see.

“I am the power I believe I am.” This is a strong statement and something that should not be dismissed, nor should this power be given away to other people. It is yours to have and to use whenever you need it. It is not something that anyone who chooses to override it can have. You can control your emotions, as well as the outcome for most things when you dis-empower the weak thoughts and “controllers” of the world. Instead, empower yourself through the knowledge that your Higher Self is the main source of your happiness.
