If you are lucky enough to find a wise man or woman don’t be surprised is they don’t dispense wisdom like a soda vending machine. Wisdom is not the type of thing that can be offered to another like an afternoon cup of coffee.

Paying it forward is defined by Wikipedia as “the concept of asking that a good turn be repaid by having it done to others instead.” The concept was unknown to me until a few months ago when I found myself scrambling around for an extra 50 cents to pay my bus fare. As I scrambled and the bus driver sighed a woman behind me quietly placed a 50 cent coin on the fare plate.

Many people have taken the risk and left the old mind-numbing job they hated in pursuit of their one true passion which may be a talent for something like writing, drawing, painting, constructing, baking, cooking, collecting, antique restoration… the list is endless. There are as many talents as there are people. We are all especially good at something. Who knows? You may not even have yet tried the one thing you are best at in the whole world. It’s time to explore your gifts, and to blow the dust off the ones you may have buried since childhood when teachers or parents even discouraged you from pursuing what you loved to do by being critical. Now we put the inner critic away and take a leap of faith and step into a new life where we can’t wait to get up each morning and spend the day doing what we love. If we make money for doing it, all the better. You are living your dream. It’s there waiting for you. Don’t put off that first step to bliss any longer. Things will conspire to work out once you commit to your path.

Believe it or not, all human beings have a spiritual overlord. An all powerful being who is capable of any feat, nothing is too difficult for this being. Folk tales have been rife with tales of superior powerful beings who helped their wards, eg, fairy godmothers, genies. etc. Though we might consider this tall tales, remember there is no smoke without fire. Investigate the story behind the stories and consider that there is truth in this myth of genies and fairy godmothers.

Just today, I found that God doesn’t provide my inspiration, until right when I need it. I was sitting down to start writing, and a fellow coworker, who is traveling with me to a conference this week, asked if I could get directions to the airport. We contemplated taking my GPS, but we are not returning at the same time, and since I need my GPS the next day that was not an option.

There are exceptional times in life that prove anything but exceptional at that time. They challenge us, pressing us between unsympathetic plates, forcing us to move. What brings them to us is anything and everything. It’s time to ‘go on in’ to God.
