We can explain the meaning of faith in many diverse manners. Faith is a state of mind where it can be taken as a belief or taking a particular thing or subject as true in mind without much of questioning.

He wrote an impassioned email about the woes of the world. At the end he said, “I can’t wait for the changes of 2012 when everything will change.” When I first learned of what is called the New Age Movement, the “Holy Grail” as it were, was 2012. In December of that year everything would change. There would be no evil in the world. Pain and suffering would disappear. People’s hearts would open to each other.

Occasionally we hear of people who claim that they have heard the voice of God; that God has actually spoken directly to them! Other people reflect on this claim and reluctantly reveal that they have never heard God’s voice – but they wish they would.

According to the scriptures Jesus laid down his life, nobody took it from him. Right before he died on the cross he said the words ”Father into your hands I commit my spirit.” Nothing they did to him had the power to kill him, he had to let himself die.

The truth is, no matter how strong of a Christian you are, no matter how solid your prayer life, how deep your love runs for Christ, you will indeed face troubles. When trouble comes a-knocking, there are three ways you can respond: fight, flee or fence-straddle.

Imagine, if you will, a place of total safety. Think about what that would be like based on the fact that there is no truly safe place on this planet. Now, imagine that this place was called Peace. Would you want to go there?

The words – Be Still – can mean not moving, and being quiet. From a biblical perspective, I was shocked and actually had to laugh when I found out the literal meaning.
