We may well take the Bible for granted, knowing that we can read and understand the message of God in our language. Today, there are many versions of the Bible for English-speaking readers: the New International Version, the Revised Standard Version and the Amplified Bible, to name just a few. But there was a time when readers were not able to get hold of even one version of the Bible in English.
