Infinity is a hard concept to grasp when we live in a world that seems limited in so many ways. The messages we are accustomed to getting are all related to “not enough”.

I grew up in the Alliance Church of the Valley, in St. Croix Falls WI. A beautiful church, beautiful surrounding, and filled with beautiful people. When we are broken, need rest and healing God desires for us to come to him. To lay our cares, concerns, fears, guilt and shame at His feet to receive forgiveness, love and healing. We are all broken, yet fully loved just as we are. After all you are God’s beloved child; as God’s child, his love for you is pure unconditional love. God is love.

The ‘technically developed’ and ‘updated’ youth of the 21st century doesn’t like to believe in atheistic words like ‘soul’ and ‘Moral Values’. A common excuse is that we believe in science and not in these ‘outdated’ words. But if they really believe in science, they would surely believe this one.

Contrast these two stories, one of an octogenarian with Stage 3 cancer and the other of a relatively young man who was leading a normal carnal-Christian lifestyle. The 80-something gentleman was a builder and he built extensions on churches for free. He had a fiery temperament, but a work ethic second-to-none…

Pain… Physical pain, mental/emotional pain, existential pain… There’s a lot of pain going around these days. When we get overwhelmed by pain, we get desperate. When we get desperate, life sucks. But we don’t have to be overwhelmed by pain and it doesn’t have to drive us to suffering. It’s possible to achieve freedom from pain. When I say freedom from pain, I don’t necessarily mean that the pain goes away, though it can mean that, as well, and often does. When I say freedom from pain, I mean freedom in the sense that the pain ceases to be a problem; the suffering part of pain goes away. When the suffering part of pain is not present, it means that our happiness and our relief from the pain is not contingent on the pain going away.
