Spiritual gifts are one of those terms that sound really appealing, because who doesn’t like a gift or a present. The thing about spiritual gifts is that they’re not physical or tangible, and they can in a sense mean what you want them to mean, depending on your sense of God, your sense of what spirit means, and what you understand gifts to mean. The potential problem with the idea of spiritual gifts, is actually in the word potential.

Guidance of any sort is often part of every day life, and as such can have good and bad effects, can be asked for or unasked for and can have much bigger consequences that is often imagined. The nature of guidance means that people are involved in making decisions, sometimes big, sometimes small that can have a powerful effect on their lives. Sometimes the guidance or advice is about beliefs or what a person should do, or sometimes it’s about specific knowledge or experience.

For years and decades on end, man has always searched for the meaning of life. Unfortunately, for the most part, man has gotten his answers from wrong sources and always ended up with the wrong results. At times, those results seem right initially, but later circumstances and events prove that man had taken a wrong step for which he pays dearly.

Often when people are looking for some kind of spiritual direction or guidance in their lives, one of the first things they will do is to ask a friend or colleague or a priest thy know if they can recommend a book to them that will help them in their understanding of the path they’re on. Normally this is asked in good faith and on the assumption that the real issue is finding the right book for the that will open a door they need opening.
