You avoid negative people as much as possible. But for those times when you have no choice, we offer the suggestions below to help you handle them peacefully and from the perspective of a mystic rather than allowing them to add more stress to your life or worse.

The power of simply being aware of the different transits in life will make for an easier time. Spirit asks that you start to pay more attention to the variety of thoughts that prance through your mind. Discard all the worries and negativities, for they will only hinder your goals. Instead, dream big! Dream of your view of what a perfect day would be like, then adjoin it to what a perfect month and year will bring you. When we are aware of our own needs, it becomes easier to take the necessary steps to get there.

I want to share with you a small picture… something I observed last week that taught me something about the process of waiting. Last Sunday at church, we had a minor prop malfunction, as it came time to light the first candle on the advent wreath. The safety matches wouldn’t strike up and in the end, the only way to get the candle to light was to take the taper up to the altar and use an already lit candle to ignite it. Then it was a case of precariously wandering back to the wreath and lighting the candle. Fire is a very powerful element – difficult to control and a force that in full flow, consumes all in its path. However, when fire is made up of just a single flame… it is easily snuffed out, it is vulnerable.

So is they life after death? Has anyone proved it? Are ghosts and spirits real? Are we reborn to this earth again? Do heaven and hell exist? These are some common questions which remain unsolved till date.

I remember that time well. My place of employment was vandalized – again…and that experience became an apt image for those times when the exterior circumstances are such that we feel flooded with distress in our lives…or, to put it another way, when the “waters of our life are rising.”

How many are willing to be a servant? How many even like the term servant in these present times? The doors which are opened by the servant remain open today, but we do not know how much longer they will remain open. Never forget or overlook the fact that Jesus Christ is coming back! If you belong to Jesus Christ then not only are you a servant, but you are a slave, and a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and a slave of the Son of God, all of which enables us to experience perfect freedom. That is something which the world just cannot see. It is a profound paradox. We also remember that Jesus said, “Follow Me”, so we should never feel ashamed or embarrassed that we are servants. Of course, Paul takes this up in the New Testament and expands the theme and explains the details.

For over 6 years, I had eaten peanuts in the shell for breakfast. This may be a crazy breakfast but I loved it all the same. However, every time I “cracked” a peanut little peanut pieces flew around which required some careful cleanup afterward. Then one day Del decided this was the day I could learn the easy way to eat peanuts. Instead of breaking them in half I just had to look, or feel, for the dimple in the top of the peanut, give a slight push and the peanut opened easily with very little flinging of pieces.

Isn’t it amazing how the little things that happen in life point the way to the Truth of our being? Once the house we were living in taught me three lessons. The first lesson began with winter as we started the process of trying to get and stay warm. When our first gas bill arrived we were amazed to discover how much money it cost to warm a small home. As a result, we decided to turn the heat way down at night and then back up in the morning to a reasonable temperature. However, when our next bill arrived it cost a 1/3 more then the previous bill.

Just like in the ministry of Jesus, the evidence of signs and wonders permeated the early church. It was as if the Holy Spirit had put his stamp of approval on all that was happening, by the evidence of such miracles taking place. In light of today’s tendency for high profile people to receive glory unto themselves when something mighty occurs, the disciples were always quick to give God the glory for what was taking place among them.

Is there a biblical model of attaining leadership in the church? Certainly, but it doesn’t always resemble the upwardly mobile call to which some aspire. Biblical leaders are often called upon to lead against their own wills. Moses comes to mind, maybe even Jonah. Did the disciples that Jesus chose apply for the job? Unlikely. Whatever the path of leadership within the church may take, we can presume from biblical examples that corporate-style leadership is not the correct template to emulate. God has His own ways of choosing leaders, and many times it does not include a system of ‘earning’ it.

When it comes down to supposed scientific tests that cross over into either the ethical or the spiritual most people either blindly dismiss it or accept it. But what about the facts?
