How can you distinguish the genuine Christian from the fake one, the nominal Christian? Here are seven indicators which you may apply to yourself to find out whether you are genuine or fake as a Christian.

Anger, we’ve already established much earlier, is patience’s opposite. If we rescue an angry person they’ll only fall again in their angry ways – we’re doing them no favours (verse 19). The folly of fools is self-inflicted, yet ridiculously they blame God (verse 3). Those contemptuous of their ways – ever jesting about in life – will bring about their own peril (verse 16).

An uncle of mine narrated an incident that happened a long time ago. He was driving when his car suddenly developed a fault and stopped, thereby causing a traffic hold-up. While he was battling to push the car out of the road to make way for free flow of traffic, a young man suddenly walked up to him and told him to get his car out of the road, calling him an old man in the process. My uncle, an elderly man, did not utter a word but he also was not happy with the insults from the younger man.

We are surrounded all the time by negative influences that do not have any difficulty in reaching our subconscious minds for as long as they remain the main thoughts on our conscious minds. It is important to point out sources of negative influences so that we can understand how to ward them off and keep ONLY positive thoughts on our minds. One major source of negative influences is usually from the well-meaning advice and talk of our immediate family, relatives, friends and acquaintances. Examples of such advice could come when one is about to undertake a venture that he/she believes would be a success.

I want to try and take a new perspective on the idea of youth ministry resources. Not so far off the deep end that we do not need them. Trust me, I have tried every study and way I can to do away with messy games and other parts of student ministry like that. You know, the things you do every year that work every time but a big part of you prays they do not. Or maybe a better way to look at it is those things you would give to an intern if you had one. But I am not talking about that.

Many Christians know church as the place you go to worship God. Traditional thinking has a way of making people believe things done and practices followed over the years are biblical and required by God.

Are you being authentic? Do your actions align with your inner desires? Your true self? Or do you follow along with the crowd? Going along with what others expect of you? What expectations do you place on yourself? Why? Take a journey into your motivations and see if they are helping or hindering you!

In this article, I attempt to explain in a way, what my role is in presenting this material to the readers of these articles. I will hopefully be able to explain why much of this material is so difficult to understand, and what I have in store for future articles.
