I was a second generation SDA for the first 36 years of my life. I defended Adventist Doctrines and the teaching of Ellen G White with all of my religious knowledge. Then one day I asked my self “why am I SDA”?

Today I managed to attempt to fix my tub faucet. It has been dripping again. This is slightly maddening because I just got it fixed- for the same reason- a few months ago. Yet here we are, the same problem all over again. This time though I decided instead of trying to get help that I would just try to do it myself. Now anyone who knows me knows that, well, there are better choices I could have made.

Like many people, I used to struggle in my prayer life. I would feel guilty, condemn myself and even evade the topic of prayer with other saints because I felt like a failure. I thought that my good work, faithful church attendance and tithing would offset the fact that my prayer life wasn’t what it should be for someone like me who professed an undying faith in Jesus.

With the camera rolling, the anticipation of audience on the left and a brief pause, a question slowly arose from the depth of my heart and blossomed through the mic. The question was: “Being a former athlete, I had experienced the Zone numerous times where everything was unfolding effortlessly on its own. Would you say that enlightenment is a permanent state of the Zone?”

Success goes beyond Personal Accomplishment. Success without the God-Factor is not a Genuine Success.

All addicts are trying to achieve the same thing, an escape from a life which is seen as boring and futile. The addiction can be anything from substance abuse to an unhealthy habit to life-threatening activity, anything in fact which generates excitement and stimulates pleasure.

I noticed some small black flecks in the bottom of my cup. My first response was to think the flecks were ants. I quickly stopped pouring my cream and peered into my cup with dismay. Yuck, ants in my cup? How could that be? I tilted the cup to see what insect had the nerve to mess with my morning ritual.

Have you ever been like me and prayed for something…prayed for the very thing you have held against someone else. For example: praying for finances and all the while speaking against how someone else has handled theirs…prayed for healing and spoke about how someone else didn’t have enough faith or has sin in their life…prayed for your children to be strong in the Lord all the while speaking about how others haven’t raised their children right…the list can go on and on.

Our Nation’s President had a phrase, it’s time for a change; the keyword was change and People drew to him, our ears were open to him and our hearts were receptive to him, these words changed his life and the past of our Nation. History was made in our Nation when we elected our first African American President. He had one word from God that did it all for him and for us.

The power-seeker is a born bully. He desires nothing less than the subjugation of all who come into contact with him.

Spiritual authority brings not just accountability, but added discernment, divine direction, revelation, insight and spiritual momentum to propel you forward in your divine purpose. Yet as a spiritual teacher I must say no church can save you because no church died for you. Salvation is found in Christ alone! Thereafter in Christ’s church you can grow in grace and be empowered to fulfill your divine purpose.

This single verse I could audaciously say summarises John’s whole approach; to the end of the gospel of God I might add. Where we keep ourselves from idols and the practice of any form of idolatry, we necessarily have to have chosen and clung to that right path of God. It’s the only way.
